11 of the Worst Makeup Trends Ever

Makeup should be an extension of your beauty and your inner spirit. Beauty is about symmetry and balance. Bringing too much attention to one of your features throws off your overall balance. With all this in mind, there are some trends we wish would go away and never return.

Over Bronzing

Over Bronzing

Sun tanner is a product you can apply to your skin to give you a darker, more unified complexion. When applied correctly, sun tanners can give you a healthy glow. The problem is people tend to misuse sun tanners and bronzers. Most tanners and bronzers come in a variety of shades that are designed for specific skin tones. If you don’t follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, you’ll risk looking more like an Oompa Loompa rather than someone who’s been sun bathing.

Women also tend to abuse sun tanners by applying multiple layers to achieve a darker complex. Although their intentions are innocent, the results can be horrifying. Please if you use sun tanner, apply only one layer evenly after you’ve exfoliated your body.

If you use sun tanner, also make sure you apply it evenly. There's nothing more embarrassing or hideous than fake tan lines.

Pointed Nails

Pointed Nails

Pointed fingernails are an exaggerated look that has somehow become a trend. Unless you’re dressing up for a Halloween party, it’s not a good look. Bringing too much attention to your nails will bring attention away from your face. Some women want to stand out, they want to be different and have a different look. But this is a look best left to the wild animals in your backyard.

Black Lipstick

Black Lipstick

Leave the black lipstick on the shelf, it makes you look too Gothic and may distance yourself from communication with others.

Glitter Face

Using makeup that contains glitter can be a fun way of expressing yourself. Using too much glitter will make you look like a fashion fool.

Contrasting Lip Liner

Contrasting Lip Liner

Using multiple colors on your lips is generally a fashion mistake. While it’s ok to use liner, choosing a liner with too much contrast with your lips will over exaggerate your mouth and throw the symmetry of your face way off balance.

Puffy Lips

Puffy Lips

There's lots of products you can use to achieve puffier lips, but don't go overboard. Lips that are too large make you look like a duck.

Colored Contacts

Colored Contacts

Instead of changing the color of your eyes, learn to use makeup that highlights your eye color. Fake contacts look tacky and unnatural.

No Contrast Lipstick

No Contrast Lipstick

Using a non-contrasting lipstick brings attention away from the lower half of your face. It causes an unbalanced look.

Face Piercings

Face Piercings

When it comes to piercings, stick to traditional locations. Applying piercings on your face from far away will make it look like you have a massive zit.

Smoke Eye Overload

Smoke Eye Overload

Mascara is hot, it really highlights the eyes. But too much mascara is scary. There's a delicate line you shouldn't cross.

Too Much Foundation

Too Much Foundation

Too much makeup can look strange, especially under the right light. Instead of looking flawless, you will stick out like a sore thumb, especially once you begin to sweat.
